Desmond is a graduate student in the department of Music History and Literature. His research focuses on nineteenth-century aesthetics of music. A Eugene Cota-Robles Fellow, his primary interests include nineteenth-century critique, history and philosophy of aesthetics, music print culture after the Enlightenment, and intersections of Romantic theology and politics. In 2014, he received a Bachelor’s of Music degree with a philosophy minor from the University of California, Irvine. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree in musicology.
