Admission to the Designated Emphasis

Eligibility: All students enrolled in PhD programs at the University of California, Berkeley are eligible to apply for the DE in Critical Theory. Students must apply before advancing to candidacy, preferably in the first or second year of graduate study. The DE admits no more than 15 new students each year.

Application Process and Requirements: Petitions for admission to the DE are accepted each spring for admission to the program in the following fall. The deadline for application for the 2009-2010 academic year is Friday, March 20, 2009, by 4pm. You may download the petition here.
